How to Look After Your Stairlift

Just like a mobility scooter, powerchair or wheelchair, a stairlift needs a little TLC from time to time. Similarly to a car, there are things you can do to ensure that your stairlift remains in good condition. Giving your stairlift that extra bit of care can help to reduce problems and help make your stairlift life last longer.

Here are our top tips to looking after your stairlift:

Read the manual
Once our Snowdrop engineers have finished installing your stairlift, we always recommend that you take some time to read the manual. This will inform you of all the things you need to know about the stairlift, and will give advice on how to clean and care for it.

Clean the Exterior
We recommend cleaning the stairlift at least once a week to prevent dust and debris build up. You can do this with a duster or damp cloth, avoiding any domestic products. You can get a family member or friend to help you do this if you aren’t confident doing this yourself. If a damp cloth is used, don’t forget to fully dry the seat and track afterwards, to ensure no slips or falls can occur.

Don’t skip servicing! To reduce errors or problems with your stairlift, we recommend a stairlift service at least once a year from our experienced Snowdrop engineers. Our staff can ensure the stairlift is running smoothly, and that it maintains good condition. Our maintenance plans ensure that your servicing needs are not forgotten about – visit here for more information and pricing.

Use the stairlift regularly
If the stairlift is no longer needed anymore, or perhaps the owner of the stairlift is away, it is worth checking on the stairlift from time to time. Just like a car, the stairlift can benefit from being used regularly to prevent issues arising.
